Stepping into THANN Sanctuary, I was immediately overwhelmed by a fresh scent of lemongrass mixed with a hint of mint, rosemary and thyme. This calm and tranquil space is decorated with exquisite Thai style ornaments, transporting me to Thailand in an instant.

Once seated, my Thai therapist Noi made me feel at home. She offered me a cool towel and some lemongrass pandan tea, then greeted me with folded hands and a wholehearted smile; “Welcome to you”, she said. This longlost intimacy is soothing and heartwarming.

This is my first experience of the THANN Sanctuary Signature Massage, a luxurious and indulgent massage treatment. When Noi went to prepare, I continued to enjoy my lemongrass pandan tea. With an elegant and refreshing fragrance, the tea had an endless aftertaste; I simply closed my eyes and let the scent of nature and woods relax my tension.

While waiting, I was given a form to fill in my health conditions, massage pressure preferences, as well as the body parts to focus on or avoid, allowing the therapist to understand the needs and expectations of the guests.

Noi came to me again shortly, kneeling on both knees this time, and presented a range of THANN Body & Massage Oil for my selection. Out of the 8 choices, I opted for Sea Foam, a cool and refreshing mix of peppermint, thyme and eucalyptus, reminding me of the sea breeze by the beach.

I was then led into a private room for the massage. The room had a relaxing ambience. Massaging my feet, Noi soaked my feet delicately in warm water which helped to sooth my soreness.

Before starting the massage, Noi first struck the singing bowl. With the pure tones lingering in the air, my body journey began. Noi gently applied my choice of Sea Foam massage oil on me. The refreshing scent induced me to Thailand instantaneously as if I was standing among the green fields in Chiang Mai’s Burning Season. Noi performed a deep tissue treatment, using firm palm, thumb and forearm pressure to relieve and heal muscular aches and pains. Unlike the Chinese acupressure massage, I barely felt any pain, just a slight pinch that simultaneously melted away with the aroma. Relaxing in the hands of Noi in this harmonious atmosphere, my consciousness slowly floated away and entered a deep sleep.

Time flies when you are having a good time, it was the time for me to get up reluctantly. My body was suddenly featherlight and I felt as if I was stepping on clouds. After refreshing myself with the THANN natural skincare and aromatherapy products, I was ready to go. Before saying goodbye, Noi offered me some cool sliced pineapple and lime water. The sweet and fresh pineapple was as delightful as her hospitality.

I completely fell in love with the THANN Sanctuary after my first visit. What impressed me most was the intimate hospitality of my Thai therapist Noi. During the massage, she was very thoughtful and kept communicating with me on the massage pressure.
