THE HEART EDIT
When I was small, there was the same old thing – every night, I rolled onto my father and refused to sleep until he read me stories. “Le Petit Prince” was one of my favourites then.
In “Le Petit Prince”, enchanting words filled every page of the storybook and some – followed by the storyline – were even stamped on my memory: “On ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur.” (“One sees clearly only with the heart”). The little prince did not understand at first; when time passed by, he felt the words more deeply. Different encounters in life made him realise that everything – especially the most beautiful things on earth – could not be seen but felt with the heart.
An ode to the well-loved novella, Montblanc showcases the Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Special Edition, with engraving of this wisdom quote on writing instruments. Using its pen always warms my heart to recall the storytelling moment with my father.
The writing instrument collection is composed of three editions, each one inspired by one of the original characters and the powerful life lessons they evoke. “The Planet” – recently launched in 2020 – is the third and final edition to celebrate the planet, the tiny asteroid “B612” that is home to the little prince, synonymous with love, care and nurturing our planet as well as relationships.
The Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Doué Classique offers a champagne-tone gold-plated cap etched with stars and the name of “B612”, contrasting with the burgundy translucent lacquered barrel. Its 18K bi-colour champagnetone gold nib is decorated with a delicate drawing of the rose. The Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Solitaire Le Grand Edition is crafted from European hornbeam wood with a wine-coloured stain. Its wood cap is decorated with a milled star pattern, featuring “B612” on the backside. The clip of each pen is accented by a lacquered golden colour star, a reference to the little prince’s invitation to the pilot in the novella to remember his laugh by simply looking at the stars above.
Further on the completion of writing experience brought by the Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Special Edition, Montblanc introduces a fine stationery notebook in burgundy calfskin leather covered in embossed stars and gold foil details, along with a new burgundy ink inspired by the rose colour of “Le Petit Prince”.
Like the little prince, I am grateful for having a life coach – my father precisely – who gives me countless lessons in what makes love flourish. As Father’s Day is coming, it is time to think of a perfect “thank you” with action.
